About Our Agency

Founded in October 2006 by Jerry Becerra, CPCU, Heffernan Barbary Insurance Services is an independent insurance broker in the San Francisco bay area. At a time when small independent insurance agencies are being absorbed by larger institutions, we believe that there is a need for smaller agencies that have personal connections with their clients. The staff members at Heffernan Barbary Insurance Services each bring a different set of skills to help our clients and work as a team to provide the best service possible.

We are located in the San Francisco bay area, and take our name from the Barbary Coast. There may not be pirates in these waters any more, but there are a lot of things that can go wrong. Whether your concern is fire, earthquake, liability, workers’ compensation or something else, we are here to help.

Our list of insurance carriers includes many of the industry leaders. However we also place a wide range of specialty products, often with companies that are not commonly known by consumers. We help our clients research and evaluate different options and make informed decisions. Pricing always needs to be competitive, but coverage is equally important. Insurance is always too expensive if it does not do what you need.
