Born in Guanajuato, Mexico, Carlos Arreguin came to San Francisco in the late 1970s and grew up in the Castro area. In 1987 he began a career in building maintenance, working his way up to management. In 2002 he began working for Metro Maintenance, a locally owned janitorial company specializing in large office buildings. There he worked as a manager and safety instructor, doing safety training and gaining experience on Workers’ Compensation issues. Through the owner of Metro Maintenance he was introduced to Barbary Insurance Brokerage and became Barbary’s first employee.
In addition to the management and safety training he received at his prior positions, Carlos has taken courses with the Insurance Educational Association and obtained his license as a property and casualty agent. He continues his education with courses on liability and property coverage as well as industry specific courses on information technology.
When he is not working in insurance, Carlos keeps himself busy with a variety of hobbies. He is an avid gardener, maintaining fruit trees and collecting orchids. He is also a collector, with collections of music, toys and coins among other things. He likes to travel and has an active social life
